Doctor Teeth
Mar. 31st, 2005 @ 09:54 am Boy this turn just jumped out of nowhere!
I know I checked Her Stride Titans several times yesterday and there was nothing. This morning I check it and there are 30+ posts on the Battle of Britain. People have zoomed in and are acting as referees at the same time. Very cool. Right now it looks like three or four players have learned how to judge arguments.

Don't you find judging argument simple? You just look at it and say "Strong!" "Weak" or something and roll. It's easy.

The speed that people are taking on leadership roles in this game is a new phenomenon in Matrix Gaming. Until now players have patiently waited for the referee to tell them when to send in turns. Referees have in effect "owned" their games. Here Stride Titans is even more communal story telling than other Matrix Games.

Mar. 28th, 2005 @ 12:58 am Timeline updated for turn 9
Current Mood: okayokay
I have updated the timeline on our wiki to reflect the results of turn 9. New arguments are in italic for convenience.

As to the rest of the Wiki, I would be happy to help anyone who is learning to edit it and has any questions. I'd love to see more people doing stuff for 'their' characters, although I will probably go in and fill in some stuff for other characters eventually. I would rather have their creators handle it though since they know better what they have in mind. I have tried to keep the major facts of my entries to the arguments, although a few things hint at other things I might be planning. I have also included some conjecture/non-argument stuff but people can always contradict that later -- I guess only the timeline should be considered canon for the purposes of this part of the game. I said in my Noah entry that Noah wears black robes and carries a staff carven with qaballistic runes, but if someone wants to make an official argument that he wears white and his staff says 'Up Yours, Nazis!' in German instead, more power to them (and I'll update his entry if it succeeds).

Mar. 26th, 2005 @ 03:43 am wiki changes
Current Mood: busy
I made a few updates on the Wiki -- I created pages for Noah, the Untermenschen, and my imaginary flavor-text book, Arise Again And Defend Your People.

Of more general interest, I changed the Complete Timeline page. It now automatically includes the other timeline pages. This means that you only need to change the individual timeline pages -- the changes will automatically be reflected in the complete timeline page.

Mar. 24th, 2005 @ 07:16 pm the train to Freedom
Current Mood: busy
an excerpt from Arise Again and Defend Your People by David Cohen published by Freedom Press in Freedom, Florida, 1979:

Noah himself rode on the first train to Freedom with the tired refugees of the SS St. Louis. Although his powers would certainly have allowed him to fly to Freedom in no time, he would not leave the people he had shepherded so far. Eyewitness reports say that he barely spoke at all, but for a word of comfort here and there. Instead he stared intensely out the windows, and a strong wind gusted through the state as they passed. His mind was obviously on the meeting to come.

It would be his first meeting with the Sons of Freedom, his heroes and, later, allies. It was his first visit to America, a land where the legend of Noah was to become almost as significant as it did in his birthplace. The events set in motion on his visit to Freedom would forever cement his place in history, and perhaps the bearded sage with the carven staff, so much wiser than his years, could sense a little of what was to come, the change coming in the wind.

Mar. 24th, 2005 @ 10:49 am Phoney War
I noticed matrixgamer's argument for this turn, and I am conflicted. There is some very cool stuff that progresses the War, but also something very troubling.

"In 1939 Hitler overruns Poland in a Blitzkrieg attack aided by supers. Following this Europe engages in a phoney war suring which supers of both sides fight ineffectively. In Spring 1940 Hitler pulls off another successful Blitz, this time taking France, Belgium and Holland out of the war.

Supers are all nice and fine but Germany has tanks and planes to do the job - which they do nicely.
Since both sides have supers, it stands to reason that they will cancel one another out.
For the Germans to be a threat they need to have some big successes early in the war."

The idea that the supers cancel each other out is, in my opinion, a cop-out. The game GODLIKE has already done, in detail, a world where Supers cancel each other out in WWII, and most every superhero world in literature that I've seen follows the same assumption.

In world_of_titans, we have the opportunity to really blow the lid off of WWII. It seems to me that the momentum of the game is pointing more towards a WWII that rampantly diverges from the main timeline. (With the stuff with Japan, China, and the multiple arguments for German supers as a powerful force.) I'd be very interested in exploring a world where history is rather different, but we can end up with a still-recognizable world in 2005 (or whenever we start gaming). While I love the moves for Blitzkreig making early advances, I think emplacing the phoney war as being ineffectual may stand in the way of WAAH, CRAZY! funness with supers in WWII.

Not to say that a future argument can't say "The phoney war of 1939 and 1940 gets turned on its head when Germany unleashes Der Fleigermensch and level London in a matter of weeks." But I'd rather not have to go through all the trouble of re-writing that portion (if it is viewed as a re-write rather than a "Yes, and").

Well, that's my much more than $.02

Mar. 23rd, 2005 @ 08:12 pm Hirohito
As promised here is a little more info on The Emperor's "power".

Essentially, Hirohitos' only power is the ability to bestow powers on others (and conversely, can't "empower" himself). Now this does not mean that he can create supers at will. First, 'cause he isn't dumb, he would only give powers to those he trusted, and keep them close. Second He has a finite pool of power to bestow. Thus once he divvy's it up, he can't make more. It would kinda like how the Pederson Flash was divided among the Specials in Rising Stars. Theoretically, he could make one really uber-powerful Superman-type super, but this would use up his entire pool. Following Turbo's argument, though, he has wisely divided it among several people, of varying power levels (I.e. His "yojimbo"). Thus while powerful, there are many "hitches" to how "the "blessing" works. I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't trying to "power-game" with this tid bit. I just thought it was a neat twist. Plus it fits in with the "Divinity" angle of the Emperor.

This is a post for general discussion about the Seedwiki page over at this link --->World of Titans Information

Current Mood: Industrious
Just so everyone knows, I've started a free account on Seedwiki. I think we'll use this for the Timeline and other information. I don't think it needs to be in Wikipedia as they are going for a bit more "factual" content.

I'll post more information as I get a bit more done on the account. I'm in under coyote watches and the current wiki is called "World of Titans."

But there isn't anything there yet because I have to go weed and clean up the outside of the house for an insurance inspector... AH-HA! Real life invades again!!!
